Somes Pond is the earliest pond to swim in. The reward for a chilly swim is to lie on the warmth of the large granite rock in its center. Some days we swim out past the rock to a little camp on an island. Other days are for lollygagging, feeling the warmth of the sun, looking at the shapes in the clouds and feeling the silky smoothness of the water.
